We visit your space, check subfloor conditions, and walk through product types and finish options with samples on hand. You leave with a written price before anything is scheduled.
Laminate planks sit in the room for 48–72 hours before installation begins. In winter, when the materials arrive cold, that window runs longer. This prevents post-install buckling, seam gaps, and planks pressing against baseboards as the material settles.
We move furniture, remove existing flooring where needed, and resolve any leveling or moisture issues before a plank goes down. Concrete slabs get a vapor barrier.
Underlayment goes down first, then planks are installed using the click-lock float method with staggered seams and consistent expansion gaps at all walls and fixed objects.
We inspect the finished floor with you, clean the space completely, and cover care instructions and your 12-month warranty before the crew leaves.

We bring samples, review your subfloor, and hand you a written estimate. One in-home visit covers product selection and full installation cost.

Most Chicago laminate installations are done in one to two days, depending on room size, subfloor condition, and whether existing flooring needs to come out. Significant subfloor leveling adds time. We give you a realistic timeline during the in-home estimate.
In many cases, yes. We assess the existing surface during the in-home estimate. A floating laminate floor needs a subfloor flat within 3/16 inch per 10 feet. If the current floor creates height issues at doors or isn't structurally sound, removal is the better starting point.
Yes, with the right prep. Chicago basement slabs hold moisture, and below-grade rooms run colder than the rest of the home. We install a vapor barrier over every concrete slab. For below-grade spaces, water-resistant laminate is the safer choice. Standard fiberboard can swell if moisture migrates up from the slab.
Chicago winters drop below zero, and summers push into the 90s. That range causes laminate to expand and contract measurably. Proper installation accounts for this with expansion gaps of at least 3/8 inch at every wall. The 48-to-72-hour acclimation period before installation lets planks stabilize at room temperature first.
Yes, at the right AC rating. Scratch resistance in laminate runs from AC1 (light residential) to AC5 (heavy commercial). AC4 handles dog nails, dragged furniture, and kids' toys without deep gouges under normal conditions. For pet households, water-resistant laminate limits moisture absorption when spills or accidents are cleaned up promptly.
